Introduction
This page is full of information for all four of my content areas. It starts with the Rules and Requirements for the classes and a Supplies section listing what you need to be successful in my class. Are you "tech friendly" and keep your cell phone handy? If so, I have a Twitter that I use for academic purposes only and you and your child are invited to follow me @russro for important classroom information. I'm also updating my website everyday so check back often for updates! If you have something you would like for me to include, please send me an e-mail and I will try to update it for you.
I listed my class according to the Madison City Schools Course Description. As the year progresses, I will list information in each category or upload files for those specific classes. On the "Links" page you can find links that I think make the lives of teachers, parents, and students a little easier. If you have a link that you think should make the list, please email me with the web address and a short description.
Do you have a copy of the school calendar or testing calendar? If not, click here for a copy.
Do you need a free and private place online to store all your stuff? DROPBOX is your answer. It's free and private and can be accessed from computers and your smart phone, via the Dropbox application for iPhone and Android. To start your own Dropbox, click here and begin today!
Students have three textbook options: 1) check out a book, 2) check out a CD to install on a computer, 3) online book. Students may pick more than one textbook option but at least one must be chosen. If you pick option #3, you need to have reliable internet access. Option #3 also is slow to load the first time it is used. Click here to log in information for the 11th grade textbook:

RulesAll students can learn and behave appropriately. To guarantee all students in my classroom the excellent learning climate each deserves, I use the following class rules.
|
SuppliesPencil or Blue/Black Pen, Notebook/Binder for handouts/notes, and Notebook Paper
Any donations of waterless hand sanitizer, tissue and disinfectant spray/wipes, and copy paper (white and color) would be greatly appreciated. |
English III
English 11 (18 weeks/1 credit/ prerequisite: English 10) Contemporary American Literature (1900-present) will be emphasized with strong emphasis on writing styles. Vocabulary expansion, comprehension, and word recognition are emphasized in reading activities. This course fulfills the requirements needed for post-secondary education including college preparation. Summer reading is required. List provided in April. This is from the 2012-2013 Curriculum Guide. If you have a question about the secondary instruction for Madison City Schools, click here.
I will list handouts, study guides, and calendars below so kids that are absent or lost their paper have access to a print copy. I try to put the newest ones at the bottom of each column so old ones on top and new ones on the bottom.
